Tips on how to get wax off your carpet or upholstery
Candles give special warmth in a home. However there is a risk that hot wax is spilled on carpets or clothes?
Stains are easier to remove when they are treated quickly, otherwise stains set in and are a lot more difficult to eliminate.
Wax on a carpet
Use ice cubes bag or fill a plastic bag with ice and lay it over the wax stain and leave it until the wax hardens. Avoid making the wax stain wet from leaks or condensation.
Scrape off as much wax as you can with a dull knife, a tablespoon or a fine comb. Spread a clean terry cloth or brown paper over the wax stain.
Using an iron at a medium temperature go over the stain. The cloth or paper will absorb the wax as it melts. Repeat this step using a clean section of the cloth or paper until the wax is completely removed.
To finish off cleaning the stain, treat the area with a carpet cleaning solution to get rid of the last bits of wax or dirt. You can also use rubbing alcohol or dry cleaning
fluid.
For wax on clothes and tablecloths, follow the same instructions but use the iron at a lower temperature and ensure to place the item over some kitchen paper or similar. You can use either brown paper or kitchen paper. If any stain is left on clothing after removing wax, spray with a stain remover or soak garment with some stain remover and wash normally.
